Global Kiter Foundation (GKF) is a non-profit Foundation with a mission to improve environmental awareness, create community engagement and offer comprehensive education while using kiteboarding as the unique connection point.

GKF creates community projects, develops continuing education programs and promotes environmental awareness through sport. As Nelson Mandela said: "...sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope."

It was established in 2011 by Royal Decree in Brussels, Belgium. It is the only one of its kind in the industry, and this structure provides transparency, accountability and credibility to our work.

GKF activities demonstrate a genuine spirit of applying CSR principles to promote human and social development, and clearly show creativity, innovation, and commitment.

The results already being generated are substantial: 80% of the participants want to continue their progression through our programs, which shows the positive impact the workshops have had on their lives. 100% of volunteers also want to participate in any new activity we organize.

About us
Global Kiter Foundation has been set up by husband and wife team, Charles Werner and Sandrine Roussos Werner. As a result of over a decade's involvement in the industry, they wanted to find a way to give back to their communities through the use of an exciting and environmentally friendly sport. The foundation is the perfect partnership between their passion for creating new opportunities for others and developing fantastic opportunities within the sport.

GKF doesn't just give people a vision of what they can achieve- we give them the tools and support to do it. Our partners can facilitate social change while at the same time achieving business goals.

What is Kiteboarding?
Kiteboarding is a fast growing, inspiring and accessible sport. Simply put, it involves a rider harnessing the power of the wind using a kite while attached to a board or buggy, to ride either on land, water or snow.

Kiteboarding is a sport that is in harmony with the environment. It is what we call a green sport -its only source of power is the wind. It is also a very inclusive sport- anyone can practice it, regardless of age group or health condition.

GKF's Objectives:
Through scalable projects that engage participants and members of the community, we promote social and environmental awareness and responsibility.

More specifically, GKF's objectives are to:
  • Enable people with a physical disability to achieve incredible results through sport, regardless of health conditions
  • Educate communities about the importance of natural resources like wind and nature
  • Sustain our efforts by encouraging communities to engage with and preserve our environment
